PINETREE GARDEN
Immersive installation, four-channel video projection with spatial sound, 2025
A commissioned artwork created for Hwadamchae, an art space within Hwadamsup Forest operated by the LG Evergreen Foundation.
The image of the pine forest, layered with the endlessly circulating time of seasons and the cycle of day and night, does not merely imply the constancy of nature’s cycle. Rather, it highlights the ‘moment’ when ceaseless change occurs and when that change is perceived anew. This moment creates a rupture in the physical continuity of time, marking an extremely subjective and intimate point where I and nature interact and respond to one another. Within the rhythm of this cycle,
tiny elements that compose the landscape organically come alive and generate a multitude of visual images unfolding like a panoramic scene.
The processed forest space, holding these natural images, is not a projection of reproduced nature, but an unfamiliar, private time-space where the boundary between reality and dream dissolves — a space where my presence and the images of nature are mutually reflected and intertwined. _Sara Oh(Curator)
